Karl Thurmond was named one of America’s Top 100 Bet-the-Company Litigators in 2019 – 2022.
Because of the business litigation and trial results Karl achieved, he was the first lawyer in the history of El Pollo Loco, Inc. to receive a Special Commendation Award for his contribution to the success of the company. Karl was also co-lead defense counsel in Copeland v. Baskin-Robbins USA.et.al., (2002) 96 Cal.App4th 1251, which has been cited or referenced over 530 times.
Karl’s clients retain him to provide innovative solutions to complex business problems throughout the U.S. His clients have included Associated Materials, Henry Company, El Pollo Loco, Inc., Allied Domecq, McDonald’s Corporation, Baskin-Robbins, Los Angeles Local Development Corporation, Inc., DMC Investment Group, Inc., and Men’s Wearhouse.
Karl is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Harvard Law School, where he was an Ames Moot Court Finalist and received the Williston Prize for best contract negotiation. He served as the Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of Milken Community Schools. He was also the Co-Chair of City Attorney Mike Feuer’s Campaign for Mayor.
Karl is currently the Co-Chair of the Finance Committee for Adam Schiff’s Campaign for U.S. Senate. He is also currently the Co-Chair of the Finance Committee for Congresswoman Sydney Kamlager’s Congressional Campaign.
